Up for sale is a super rare hard to find original Antique 1872 1880s photograph of Joy Utah huge size Birdseye and panoramic view of the whole town. Photographer is Sisson California. This huge photograph is possibly the only one known to exist! Joy Utah was a mining town back in 1872 founded by Harry Joe mining engineer from Detroit also partners with Charles Howard. It was a mining town that mined for silver and gold and other minerals. Joy is in Juan county and 40 miles west of Delta Utah near the Drum mountains near mount Laird southeast of the fish springs range. I’ve had this rare photograph for about 10 years and wasn’t 100% sure exactly what city or mining town it was until recently a man came into my antique store and told me exactly what town it was because he grew up there his whole life and raised cattle and drove cattle up threw those mountains. He recognized the town and mountains instantly! So now I’m 100% positive it’s the town of joy Utah. The town is no longer there now completely gone except for some mining shafts and mining equipment. There are couple grave markers there today. It’s basically a Utah Ghost town now. As far as I know I’m the only one that has an original 1880s photograph of this town of joy Utah? Can’t find another one anywhere in Utah archives or museum. The size of this photograph is 54 inches long and 12 inches wide black and white. With the frame it measures 61 inches long and 19 inches wide. I’ve had the photograph professionally framed and matted with glass. It is clearly signed on lower left Sisson cal. Photographer? This super rare photograph of Joy Utah could be the only one known to exist in Utah. It deserves to be in museums or Utah archives or someone from Delta Utah archives. The Birdseye pan Panoramic view shows the whole town buildings church house blacksmith shops country stores houses barns and much more even the mining roads and mines up in the hills roads.
