PLEASE NOTE THAT THE WORDS, DHINC EBAY WATERMARK ARE NOT ON THE ITEM ITSELFYou are bidding on a GREAT RARE old original small photograph of the an American Indian standing on a wooden sidewalk, porch or walkway in front of some buildings. He is interacting with other men who appear to be white men. I have other images of this particular Indian, Native American, and he is identified on one of them as Chief Washunga, and that this scene was in Newkirk, (Oklahoma). According to the internet, Washunga was a Kaw Indian Chief, and that he died in 1908, so this image will date from 1908 or before, possibly during territory times. This image, and others that we have, were all acquired from a Blackwell Oklahoma estate and is guaranteed to be original. It was found with our previously sold small photos, and another of our current listing of a photo, of the Chilocco Indian School which is near the Kansas Border and north of Ponca City and Newkirk, Oklahoma. The photo paper is very light and measures approx. 4 3/4”x 3 3/4”. As I have stated before, I am not an expert but it is possibly the type of thin photo paper that would be applied or affixed to a cabinet card, then making a cabinet photo, but that is only an educated guess. It does not lay flat and is turned up at all of the corners, more so the top left and lower right corners or quarters. Also there is chipping of the gloss at the corners and/or the edges, some layering, and/or rounding at the corners, a small crease at and near the corners, other creases and/or handling creases, some darkening and/or spotting on the image and other wear. The photograph does not lay flat. There is moderate darkening, smudges, spotting, foxing and/or cloudiness on the back of the photo, and other wear.
